From PBO
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the founders and team of Pinoy Bloggers Outreach. It was such a great pleasure to receive this priceless award. Salamuch! As much as i want to be physically present in every group's event activities but as of the moment some health issues prevent me from doing so, yet i am still hoping that i can be of help in any way i can. ;)

Eng Bee Tin's huge mooncake - 75 inches in diameter and 3 inches thick.
Looked really yummy!

Chinese-Filipinos celebrate the evening and exchange mooncakes with all Filipinos friends, families, and neighbors. According to Wikipedia, legends associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival is the Matchmaking which stated that young women are encouraged to throw their handkerchiefs to the crowd. The young man who catches and returns the handkerchief has a chance of romance.

Megan Young crowned Miss World 2013
23 year old Megan Young of the Phillipines won the 63rd Miss World beauty pageant in the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

To the question “Why should you be Miss World?” Young answered,
“I treasure a core value of humanity and that guides people why they act the way they do. I will use this to show other people how they can understand each other … as one, we can help society.” -source
Before Young's victory, the highest honors for the Philippines in the Miss World competition was 1st runner-up in 1973, which went to Evangeline Pascual.

In 2011, the country's bet Gwendoline Gaelle Ramos Ruais was named 1st runner-up Asia & Oceania Continental Queen.

Last year, Miss World 2012 Philippines Queenierich Rehman was among the Top 15 candidates in the beauty contest. -source

Injuring
Looking back on the first day of September, i felt a bit of chance that this month would be a lot better than the past months. but it never was Hell, yeah not to mention how things are changing very differently for me, like acceptance is the only cure to be okay again. It has been years ago and felt like I've been struggling for almost like forever. Expressing too much unhappiness, though still looking for the brighter side of each passing day.
So long September,, and say hello October. quite excited for November atleast i am.

Self Worth: Impossible Possibility

image belong to its rightful owner no infringement intended
It is not merely happiness that we all seek.  We seek some place where we belong.  For the lucky few, we find it in our childhood with our own families.  But for most of us, we spend our adult lives seeking that place or person or organization that makes us feel that we are important, that we matter, and that without us something would go undone and undoable.  We all need to feel that we are irreplaceable.
They say it gets better I want to believe that happiness might atleast be possible later on in life for people prone to sadness.

Book: Trouble in Mudbug

4 out of 5 stars
 SYPNOSIS:
Scientist Maryse Robicheaux thought that a lot of her problems had gone away with her mother-in-law’s death. The woman was rude, pushy, manipulative and used her considerable wealth to run herd over the entire town of Mudbug, Louisiana.

Unfortunately, death doesn’t slow down Helena one bit.

DEA Agent Luc LeJeune is wondering what his undercover assignment investigating the sexy scientist has gotten him into – especially as it seems someone wants her dead. Keeping his secrets while protecting Maryse proves to be easier than fighting his attraction for the brainy beauty.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I downloaded this free e-book at iTunes store (actually i had downloaded a lot) This was the first one and it was really a good one. Too bad that the other versions must be bought for a couple of dollars and i don't have an itunes load card to purchase the next stories. aww.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading Trouble in Mudbug, it's not just an ordinary romance novel - it's mixed up with some wacky adventures, light suspense and an appearance of an obnoxious ghost.  I actually imagine if i can see a ghost myself, that would be really scary at first but the benefit of it sounds really interesting. I just hope the ghost would be the same as Helena Henry - she may had a bad image but she really does have a good heart. My favorite part of this story was when Helena was telling Maryse about her mother, that she and Helena was good friends and so on. Made me almost teary eyed. I also wanted the scene they sneaked into the hospital to peek at the records section. Im looking forward to read the sequel which is the Mischief in Mudbug, Showdown in Mudbug, Ressurection in Mudbug and The Helena Diaries.

On the otherhand, the story teaches a moral lesson that we should not judge someone by what she/he does or how people around think about him/her. You may never know what hidden good deeds the person may have done. Always believe something good about someone, rather than something bad - besides we all have imperfections. Don't assume. See the truth for yourself and not only for what you see and hear.

Easy Pound Cake using oven toaster

It has been a while since i hadn't post any food recipes - though most of it are pastry goodies that i really enjoy and make those boring times pass by. So here's my first attempt of cooking pound cake using oven toaster. By the way, Pound cake refers to a type of cake that is made up of four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar. (Though i added vanilla in my recipe) Now let's see how easy it was.
Here's how:

Pound Cake
  1. Sift flour in a bowl. (I used cake flour but you may also use the all purpose flour)
  2. On a separate bowl, combine egg, butter, sugar and vanilla using an electric mixer on high speed until it is light and fluffy. Gradually add flour and mix on low speed. Do not over mix.
  3. Put lard in the cake pan. This is to avoid the cake from sticking to the pan when it's cooked already.
  4. Cook for 15 mins or so. It's cooked when you insert a toothpick at the center and it comes out clean.
 Coffee Frosting

Mix 1 cup confectioner's sugar, butter and 1 tsp coffee powder.
*I didn't use the electric mixer to combine so it looks a bit lumpy and the coffee didn't blend so well. Yet, nothing to worry about. It will still taste the same.
Not so bad for a first timer. It tasted nice, almost near to the taste of butter cakes bought at some bakeshops. (Now that's kinda boastful hehe) I was astonished by the texture, it actually looked like a pound cake. Oh well, that's a yummy accomplishment in such a boring day.

Have a slice.. Till next!

Human Error

A computer is a wonderful and friendly machine. because it's always just a little better than you are.  You're always a little bit behind but it stays right there with you anyway.  it allows you to make the mistakes and then to try to find out what the mistakes are, and then to repair the mistakes.  It's always your friend.  It quits on you, but it doesn't leave you.
"Too often we dont realize what we have until its gone.  Too often we're too stubborn to say "sorry I was wrong."  Too often it seems we hurt the ones closest to our hearts and too often we let the most foolish things tear us apart."

Blog Makeover at long last

For years i had stick to one layout only - just changing headers and that's it. I had always wanted a new one just like everyone else manage to change theirs but i was lazy to do so. Of course, i wanted the best but couldn't think of any concept. Until one day, when life seems to be really boring and stressful at the same time, i pushed doing this super makeover. Little did i know, it added more stress for those html/css codes that doesn't seem to work, though a bunch of trial and errors make it more challenging.

I wanted a wide clean looking layout that means less colors and lighter shades. Also, comes with the organized sidebar and other blog content linkies that i am still currently fixing. Fortunately, i managed to organize my linkables that had been left out and others that are scattered for the past few years.  I find it so annoying that i haven't fixed it before.  I guess that's what they call "perfect timing" for every thing or can be an awesome excuse for being the most laziest person on planet earth. mehehe!

Makeover made possible with sprinkles of fairy dusts from
Code it Pretty
HTML Goodies
Fontscape
EshBerryCreative
Adobe Photoshop
Random search for the background and paris image

I am really satisfied with the outcome that i guess more years to pass by before changing it again.  Just some minor fix and it's all done. So how'd you guys think of the new look? Hope you like it as well.

Till next!

Friday the 13th

There is no such thing as bad luck. It's our acts that defines what's gonna happen to us. It's our choices that will lead us to a bad or good situation. It's us alone who choose if we will be lucky or unlucky from those choices we have had.  I don't really believe the urban legend of this friday the 13th some kind of a curse but honestly i was waiting for something stupid to happen but all the waiting come out to nothing. Not even a strange thing or whatever. Anyway, i was thankful coz i was also half worried if something did happened. muhaha!

How about you guys, any happenings you can share about your friday the 13th? Would love to hear em'!

Indescrybable

Sometimes words just don't get you there... don't let you say all the stuff from deep in your heart, stuff that no dictionary has a name for.
