Isme: Beauty and Fashion

"The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years"
When it comes to a question of age are you more likely to be identified as growing old gracefully or seen with the stigma of being a sight for sore eyes? Perhaps as far as you’re concerned age really is only a number and dressing in an age-appropriate manner or behaving accordingly is a worry not worth wasting your time over?

As is often the case when matters are open to debate, it’s often the extremes at both ends of the scale that spring to mind. Images of mini-skirted women in their mid-life come to the fore, along with too much flesh on display and an irascible inclination for hitting the nightlife hotspots. Similarly, at the other end of the scale sits the stereotype of a woman who is past her prime, invisible in elasticated waists, sporting the statutory shampoo and set. Being perceived as one of life’s Peter Pans is viewed with as much disdain as being an old has-been.

Men can quite often get away with so much more than women and are judged far less on their appearance. Inappropriate behaviour is excused more readily, irrespective of age, and the assertion that men generally age better than women is practically a self-perpetuating myth.

Perhaps this is because men tend to have thicker skin than women in more ways than one. Collagen production drops dramatically during the menopause and this, combined with the fact that a man’s skin contains more collagen than a woman’s in the first place, tends to mean that the signs of ageing are accelerated in a woman when compared with those of a man.

Generally speaking, men also seem programmed to care an awful lot less when it comes to their appearance. They tend not to trouble themselves with the trivia that women do. Looking to the catwalk to work out what style is in fashion this season and dashing to the shops to get the latest dresses with sleeves are considerations that barely register on the masculine radar.

Age, although merely a number, can bring with it a certain amount of wisdom. Appearance is ephemeral and the earlier we learn to recognize that fact, the better. Sadly, it seems that it’s only as we get older that we appreciate the obvious. Life is all about spirit and character, the captivating factors of an individual’s personality that make them the interesting and appealing person they are. “Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.” -We want Sleeves

Enhancing Your Beauty with Eye Lash Extension

"I only have to do three things to look halfway decent,
curl my eyelashes, fill in my eyebrows and put some lipstick on."

My Second time with Eyelash Extension

If there's one thing i like most about makeup, it's making my eyes more expressive. A thin line of eyeliner in black or brown that will greatly define my eyes and make them appear more brighter and with the magic of extensions - creating an illusion of thicker lashes.

They say that long eyelashes are considered a sign of femininity in many cultures. Some are born lucky to have long lashes but most of us need a little bit help, including me. I have a thin and not-so long lashes so i really envy those with natural long lashes. So when my sister told me that we're gonna do some makeup thingys and eyelash extension, i agreed at once. You can view my first eyelash extension experience HERE
it was really cool!

Depth and intensity, drama and expression come to the eyes so having a thicker and longer lash will really make you look even more beautiful.

Eyelash extensions can make your eye look intense and romantic with the right eye makeup. Don't overdo. it is best to wear soft eyecolors during the day and dark colors will fit in the evening look.  Curl your lashes to make it look more natural and appear brighter for a more youthful look.  Apply mascara, if desired. Try it for yourself and see how more beautiful you can be.

For wonderful set of Eyelash Extensions, you may visit Lash Design.

"From an unusual shade of eyeliner and long flirty eyelashes,
to a brighter lipstick and a bit of sparkle across the cheekbones.
Makeup is the grown-up equivalent of dressing up."

Makeup: Smoky Eyes with Eyelash Extension

My sister wants to improve her makeup skills more so she attended Viana Mendez' makeup class. She got also a discount coupon at Groupon Philippines. (a lot of great deals here.)

I am not a kind of girl who wears makeup all the time (im fine with powder/blush-ons sometimes) but i really enjoy and love it when my sister always choose me as her model (no choice hehe!)  So this is one of the many times that i become her model when she practices her makeup artistry. (weeee!) The goal was SMOKY EYES EFFECT with eyelash extension.
She bought this brush set for 2,400peses (discounted)

This is unbranded but it's soft especially the blush-on brush, it's really nice.  My sister wanted LAURA MERCIER's brush set but its for pre-order basis.  When we visited a branch at Shangrila, the LM lady told us that there will be a great deal promo of brush set this coming Christmas season so we're really looking forward to that. Estimate price was 6,000 pesos up.
She can't wait for the promo so she bought a flat brush for applying tightline. Hahaha. But it's worth it since it has been her most favorite brush ever. (and now it's missing..aww.)

MAKEUPS USED:

for face
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
Nichido Loose Power (Ivory Glow)

for eyes
ELF brightening Eye color
Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner (black ebony)
Eyelash Extension
We bought the cheapest brand of eyelashes since it was just for trial makeup. (costs 65.00pesos) You can use any brand you like, there's lots of choices in SM Dept/Watsons.

TIP: You can use the cheapest eyelash extensions you can get but never use a cheap glue for the eyelashes, always go for the branded one. You'll never know what will it bring to your eyes.  Well to be really safe, buy at shopping malls and beauty stores only.

for lips
MAC lipstick (girl about town)
HOW TO GET THE SMOKY EYES with EYELASH EXTENSION
  1. Apply light base color.
  2. Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease.
  3. You want to trim the false eyelash extensions before gluing it to your eyes. Put it on your eyes and trim off the excess portions. Sometimes the false eyelashes are way too long and that it will give you a very unnatural look. Trim off accordingly.
  4. Place a thin layer of eyelash glue on the base of the false eye lashes.
  5. Hold it there for 10 seconds to make sure that the false eye lashes are now on top of your real lashes.
  6. Apply eyeliner. Make sure to blend the false eyelashes to your eyes. You can use either a pencil or liquid eye liner right at the inner corner to connect.

TADA!

First picture was taken with flash, while the other is just with natural light.  The eyeshadow turn out to be like bluish gray but in actual it is silvery black (black fading to silver) it was just the normal smoky eyes, i would love to try the extreme smoky eyes next time.  Yey!

Beauty Tip # 28: Treat Brittle Nails

When nails easily crack or break they can be a permanent worry.  Weak nails are caused by general ill health or a protein deficiency in the diet.  Increase your nutritional intake by eating more lean, meat, fish, fresh fruit and vegetables.  Others say you rub garlic into your fingertips or put some vinegar to make the nails strong but im not so sure of that.

3-4 drops of rose water

Combine the ingredients.  Widely spread the mixture on the face and affected areas.  Let it settle for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with pure water.  If you have dry skin, then this is not the right one for you.

Beauty Tip # 22: Eyeliner is safe

If you are approached by anyone claiming that eyeliners are harmful for eyes and that they can cause serious damage to eyes and eyesight, it is purely baseless.  There have been numerous search that have been carried out on this particular topic; (as i have read before) however, there has never been an evidence to prove that eyeliners are harmful to the eyes.  Therefore, everyone can continue to enjoy the pleasure of applying eyeliner in order to intensify your beauty and looks.  Eyeliner is perhaps one of the most attracting contraption of vanity.

I am not so into makeup thingy, i only wear makeups during special occasions, but for day makeups, i prefer to just wear a light powder and blush and yeah sometimes, eyeliners, i love 'em!

I use Maybelline's Gel Eyeliner.  Its more easier to apply and it dries fast. It doesnt smudge and its waterproof.

So ladies, you just have to choose the brand of makeups you will use so you wont have any problems, skin irritations, etc. Eyeliners wont harm your eyes as long as you are extra careful in applying it and dont forget to wash it away before you sleep.

For waterproof eye makeup, it may be a lil bit hard to remove with soap and water, L'oreal Eye Make up remover is perfect. You can use cotton buds or a soft cloth for this so it wont be that messy.

Beauty Tip # 21: Hair care

Your hair gets used to a certain brand.  Since your hair isnt living even if its healthy it cant become accustomed for a certain brand of shampoo.  So you dont need to change your brand of shampoo regularly to keep your hair healthy.  Once you got it, stick to it as long as it doesn't gives you hair problems. (hairfall, dandruff itchiness etc)
